How to open up a mediation date

Walkthrough video — coming soon

Opening a date is what makes it bookable. Until a half-day is Available it won't appear on the mediator's booking page, counsel can't take it, and you can't hold it for a firm either.

You can do one half-day at a time, or open a whole month at once.

Before you begin

Pick the mediator at the top of the Schedule page, and move to the month you want. Everything below acts on the month you're looking at.

Opening a single half-day

Click the slot. A Not Available slot flips to Available, and an Available one flips back. The morning slot sits at the mediator's morning start time (9:00 AM by default) and the afternoon at theirs (1:00 PM by default).

Two slots don't respond to a click, on purpose:

  • A booked slot opens the case instead. Clicking Douchette v. Bayline

Apartment Ventures takes you to that case, it doesn't un-book it.

  • A held slot does nothing at all. The panel refuses to change availability

on a held date, and tells you which firm is holding it. Release the hold first — see How to put a mediation date on hold.

Opening a whole month

Click Open Monthly Availability at the top of the calendar.

The dialog is titled for the month you're on — Open Availability — September 2026 — and tells you exactly how many slots it's about to open before you confirm. It covers every weekday half-day in that month that is currently Not Available.

It deliberately leaves alone:

  • weekends
  • dates in the past
  • slots already booked
  • slots already open
  • dates on hold

If the mediator has case types or corporate codes set up, the dialog lists them and lets you drop any you don't want this month's newly opened dates to accept.
